Worthy Rivals: Dale Nichols and Terence Duren

Nebraska artists Dale Nichols and Terence Duren had a long standing and public rivalry that made its way all the way to TIME Magazine. Regionalist Nichols and Social Realist Duren grew up just 20 miles from each other and both exhibited paintings in New York City at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art. Then they both scheduled exhibitions in their home
towns at the same time. The stage was set for a major competition. However this
exhibition and scholarly catalog explores for the very first time the many similarities of
these well-known 20th Century American Scene Artists.
