The Things We Take With Us: Melissa Hefferlin

For those who appreciate inventive, colorful still life and realism, this book presents a
tour through the last decade of work by American painter Melissa Hefferlin, who trained in
Russia during the cold war, and in Los Angeles. Hefferlin's work employs objects from the
artist's life, which she arranges in tableau to invite meaning and curiousity. She is known for
beautifully-balanced color and a sense of whimsy which is surprisingly nourishing. Essay by
Tamera Muente, curator of Ohio's Taft Museum.
